Non-Disruptive Innovation with SAP at Sea in Kyoto

0

We recently passed Kyoto on our Unreasonable at Sea Trip and it’s amazing to see how the Kyoto Train Station makes an architectural statement in Kyoto. Hiroshi Hara designed the futuristic station taking into account Kyoto’s existing grid and landscape. Hara understood there would be opponents to his design and converted those doubters into supporters by innovating non-disruptively and building the futuristic station in a way that it cast no shadow on the surrounding buildings.

Modeler Unplugged Episode 5: Importing Models in the SAP HANA Modeler

0

Importing HANA models is a very good technique to reuse content that has been built already. Using the Import Model functionality, information models that were designed with a business scenario in mind can be reused while modeling a different scenario. One can also export and import models across HANA systems. Those familiar with SAP’s three system landscape for development can immediately relate to how exporting and importing of models can be used to propagate changes across development, testing and productive HANA systems. The following short video shows how to use the “Import Model” functionality with the SAP HANA Modeler.

What will SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA mean to CEOs?

0

January 10, 2013 will be seen as a significant day in the future success of SAP due to the launch of the SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA. IT professionals and industry analysts attended the press conference with large volumes watching online. I am unclear as to the volume of actual CEO’s of Large Enterprises who were aware of the event or who have watched a replay.

Got SAP HANA? Get Tableau!

0

I shamelessly stole this catchy headline from Francois’ blog post last year when we announced we had started building a connector to SAP BW. A lot as happened since then. If you’ve been following this blog, you already know that the Tableau development team has gone bonkers this year and added several new database connectors. We want you to be able to see and understand your data, no matter where it lives.

SAP HANA on VMware vSphere

0

SAP announced today that VMware vSphere is now supported and is the preferred way to virtualize SAP’s high performance HANA database. This is great news for customers of both VMware and SAP and opens new options for deployment and management of HANA. This new announcement follows the 2011 announcement by SAP and VMware that virtualization is a best practice for running SAP and that VMware is the preferred virtualization partner to deploy SAP applications for x86. It demonstrates the strong partnership between the companies and their desire to offer customers compelling solutions by supporting the combination of their leading edge software.

HANA Along Side

During the recent press conference Hasso Plattner raised the question that will soon be on everyone’s mind: how will enterprises support sub-three-second responses for the mobile applications that will be required, first to get ahead and then to maintain competitive parity? This post will suggest that one approach is HANA alongside.

Design Thinking at Sea – The Journey continues

1

SAP just released strong annual and quarterly results, which in many ways can be attributed to a strong strategic vision around the HANA in-memory platform and strong execution throughout the organization. Akin to flying an airplane while simultaneously fixing it, SAP’s bold move to HANA may at some point see the company continuing to fly when other companies are forced to ground parts of their fleets.

SAP Sweetens Hana Deal With Free Sybase Database

0

Not everything demands in-memory performance, so SAP is bundling a conventional database for customers licensing SAP BusinessSuite to run on Hana.

Almost all the talk at last week’s SAP BusinessSuite Powered By Hana announcement was about „reinventing enterprise systems.” It’s SAP’s vision that companies will drop conventional databases from the likes of Oracle, IBM or Microsoft and switch to its Hana in-memory database in order to dramatically improve the performance of critical systems like ERP.

A consolidated application architecture based on SAP HANA

0

If I’m going to be completely honest, I’ve been so far following the evolution of SAP HANA with limited excitement. I get that running both transactional and analytical scenarios on the same dataset can radically simplify system landscapes and cut out unnecessary overhead. I get how dramatically improved analytical performance can change the way companies run their business. That’s all good, but for developing transactional applications – which is what I am mostly working on
